PURE
Innovation
     From Day One

PURE Humidifier was incorporated in the State of Minnesota in 1982 by Willard Morton. Willard graduated from the University of Minnesota and held various management positions with Pillsbury, Northrup King, Satellite Industries and several smaller firms. He and his brother, Bernard Morton, co-patented the Dri-Steem Humidifier. Willard then became co-owner and incorporator of the company that became Dri-Steem Humidifier Co. and sold out to his brother in 1976.

Operations started in 1982 in a 20 x 26-foot garage. From 1982 to 1986 Willard was the sole employee. In 1986, Willard’s daughter, Sheryl Wilkie, joined the company. In 1987, Scott Mertz was hired.

In 1990, Willard leased a 7500 sq. foot building and began production. In 1993 he purchased a 5 1/2-acre site in Chaska and constructed a 27,000 square foot building. To allow for company growth and success, he sold that building in 2001 and purchased the former home of Nordic Track: a 100,000 square foot building in Chaska, where the company is currently located.
